I recently downloaded RAAVAN, (thinking it was in HD, and I REALLY wanted to see the camera work)
So I downloaded it, allowing it to take up THREE WHOLE GB. I test it out, and its not in HD.... I swore.
Anyways, for lack of a better thing to do, I started watching it. I couldnt help noticing that it looked great!
Mani Ratnam has put together a team so-frikkin-SOLID, everything from the editing, direction, cinematography, and MARVELLOUS acting fit together hand-in-hand to make one whole cinematic experience.
Direction was SUPERB. (Let me tell you, of late I've developed an interest in direction... so I see movies from the "direction" point of view alot) There are many ultimately beautiful scenes which scream the rawness of the story setting.
Characters of Beera (Abhishek) Dev (also SP SAAB) and of course, Aishwarya come to life with superb acting, a phenomenal background score, and again, AWESOME camerawork. Side roles of Ravi Kishan and Govinda are portrayed perfectly.. Their roles not too much, neither too less.
The whole movie, overall, is more of a tale, or a story of ONE MAN Beera, not a typical bollywood movie story. SAGA, thats the word (I hope)...
The movie (in my opinion) idolizes the character of Beera. Every scene with Beera in it is heavy, and many scenes keep an imprint on your brain...
Personally, I cant see why it failed at the Box Office. It was a so-so prerformer... I guess our Indian mainstream audience isnt ready for movies like this. They want a typical Bollywood movie.
Another example is Saawariya. Its a BEAUTIFUL fairy-tale etched on the big screen. I REALLY liked Saawariya. After hearing the reasons why people didnt like it, "the whole movie is blue.. i dont get anything... things dont make sense" I wanted to SLAP them.
What the heck is wrong with them ?? Are plain blue scripted Bollywood movies their only source of entertainment?? A Movie should be more, much more than just entertainment. It should be enlightenning, for one thing.
Vanilla blue Akshay Kumar comedies like HouseFull should be frikkin BANNED.
Haha(about Akshay Kumar) :P
ReplyDeleteBTW you should have uploaded a wallpaper of the movie??
